The problem

The real competitor is the closet.

In the 1960s, a number of well-loved small Kalamazoo-built flat-tops left the factory with an injection-molded plastic adjustable bridge. Decades later, many of those bridges have cracked, warped or lifted, and a lot of good guitars went into the case and stayed there.

A from-scratch custom replica is often quoted at hundreds of dollars before installation. Initial Sound is the shortcut: a ready-to-fit solid wood replacement bridge for $119.97.

Designed with luthiers

Covers the original footprint, cleanly.

  • Pin pattern lines up with the original bridge.
  • Perimeter oversized 1/16″ all around.
  • Back extended a total of 1/8″ behind the pin holes.

The result covers the old footprint cleanly and is a more substantial bridge. Michael is a machinist, and he developed it with input from many luthiers.

How they’re made

Every bridge cut to the same profile.

Precision fixtures and a repeatable CNC program mean the bridge you receive matches the one before it: the same footprint, the same reverse-belly profile, the same 2″ string spacing. Then each one is finished by hand.

Consistent, repeatable, made in small batches

Fit certainty

Not sure it fits? Ask first.

Our bridge is a replacement for 1960s B-25 style flat-tops. Every vintage guitar is a little different, and we strongly recommend a qualified luthier handle the install. Send a photo of your old bridge next to a ruler, tell us the model and year, and we’ll give you a straight answer before you buy.
